Pennsylvania is home to many beautiful small towns. These towns are known for their quaint charm, historic architecture, and friendly locals. Many of these towns offer a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking, and fishing. There are also plenty of unique shops, restaurants, and galleries to explore. Strasburg

A haven for railway enthusiasts, Strasburg is endearingly known as "Train Town USA". With its history dating back to early-18th Century, this quaint borough offers amazing experiences of the Pennsylvanian Dutch countryside. Its scenic streets are lined with cozy B&Bs, local diners, and quirky shops, making for a fascinating touristy experience. In Strasburg, you can take a mesmerizing steam train ride along the Strasburg Rail Road, marvel at antique locomotives at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, or explore little toy trains at the National Toy Train Museum. The Old Mill Antiques Store is another unique attraction that offers interesting trinkets and reasonably priced antiques.

Honesdale

Honesdale is a quaint rural borough that is nestled about 32 miles (51 kilometers) northeast of Scranton in a historic coal mining region. Its splendid location makes Honesdale a popular destination for outdoot activities such as hiking, fishing, boating, biking, and winter sports. Boasting an intriguing history that dates back to the early-19th Century, the town is famous for being home to The Stourbridge Line, which offers spectacular train rides that make for a family-favorite attraction. Railway enthusiasts can take a look at a stunning replica of the iconic Stourbridge Lion at the Wayne County Historical Society Museum.

Yardley

Located in Bucks County, Yardley is a quaint borough named after William Yardley, an early settler in the region. The borough flourished commercially in the 19th Century and became a railroad station for the Underground Railroad during the American Civil War. Today, visitors can take a heritage tour of the town to explore its rustic streets flanked by historic buildings such as the Continental Tavern. Shady Brook Farm is a popular attraction here, which holds seasonal events and is also home to a market that sells fresh local produce.

Bloomsburg

A town and the seat of Pennsylvania's Columbia County, Bloomsburg has its history dating back to 1772 when it was first settled by English settlers. Eventually, Bloomsburg flourished as a booming iron industry town. Known to be the only incorporated town in the state, it boasts a pleasant atmosphere coupled with a number of quaint, offbeat attractions. Visitors can choose from cozy inns, B&Bs, and more luxurious hotels for their stay. Bloomsburg Town Park is a great place to soak in the charming vibes, relax by the lake, and enjoy recreational activities with your family. The little ones can enjoy at the Bloomsburg Children's Museum, which features many hands-on educational exhibits.

Punxsutawney

Punxsutawney was named after the legend of a groundhog who steps out of his burrow on February 2nd each year. If it is cloudy, he will leave the burrow signifying that winter's on its way out, but if it's sunny, and he sees his own shadow, he will retreat back causing people to believe that winter will be extended for another six weeks. The town was immortalized in Hollywood's history with the release of the Bill Murray film, Groundhog Day which was based on this legend. Visitors stop by Punxsutawney during other parts of the year too for its charming heritage, architecture and vibrant arts scene. Popular attractions include The Gobbler's Knob Visitor Center, Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center, and Phil's Burrow.

Zelienople

This picturesque community in Butler County is located on the south bank of the Connoquenessing Creek. Settled in 1802 and incorporated in 1840, Zelienople flourished as a commercial township that still managed to retain its quaint, bucolic charm. Sprinkled with vibrant eateries, cozy coffee shops, local inns and B&Bs, and other touristy attractions, Zelienople exudes charming small-town vibes. Visit the historic home of old resident Zelie after whom the town was named, catch a show at the Strand Theater, sample world food at Baldinger's, or simply relax in your room to soak in the lovely atmosphere.
