With over 50 years of experience, Pagano's is a dining venue like no other. Centrally located, on Market Street, it is a wonderful combination of a sandwich shop and a bar. The family-run establishment remains open from 6.30a onward, and offers all meals of day. The menu is dominated by fresh, wholesome sandwiches, salads, burgers and much more, while the drink list features stellar cocktails, martinis and a good selection of wines - reds, whites and bubbly. Pagano's is also quite noted for its catering service. Whether it's food or drink, everything offered here is top-notch and keeps the patrons pouring in. A preferred lunch spot, Pagano's seldom disappoints; definitely worth a visit!
Catering to the neighborhoods of Fitler Square and Rittenhouse Square areas, Doobies is a friendly, neighborhood bar with a lot of character. In business for more than 30 years, the bar revels in its simplicity and takes pride in its craft beers and honestly cooked albeit delicious food. Midst a retro-style ambiance, the bar features uncomplicated, darkwood furniture, vintage chandelier ceiling fans and a classic jukebox and exudes a thoroughly nostalgic charm. The service is friendly and prices are delightfully low; if you're short on cash and high on expectations, Doobies is just the right place for you.
The Bayou seems to be more of a gutted townhouse than a tavern. The first floor ceiling, covered by pinned-up dollar bills, hovers over the 40-foot bar as barkeeps distribute their potables. Upstairs, a smaller bar room also purveys drinks at reasonable prices. Beer, wine and spirits are served with appetizers, sandwiches and munchies. Yuengling bottles (a popular local beer) are a good bargain. In season, they have a special on Maryland crabs by the dozen.
