Wharton Esherick Studio is where the great artist and craftsman Wharton Esherick worked his magic until his demise in 1970. The studio was his dream, taking around nearly 4 decades to build. The structure is a reflection of his personality, with echoes of German Expressionism in every corner. The studio now functions as a museum showcasing his lifetime's work which includes an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, antiques, and artifacts.
As its name suggests, The William Brinton 1704 House was constructed in 1704 by its owner at the time, William Brinton. Jr. Located in the southern region of West Chester, this house accommodated the Brinton family for over 150 years, until it was taken over by a local non-profit organization known as the Brinton Connections who converted into a museum in 1967. Tours are offered by appointment, allowing visitors to delve into Brinton history in detail.
Merion Botanical Park was opened in 1944 and is home to different variety of birds, plants and flowers. Here, you can enjoy the beautiful landscape as well as the peaceful surroundings.
This 92-acre public garden is populated with rare, exotic and large trees presented in four different environments: The English Park, Rose Garden, Swan Pond and Japanese Garden all offer a multitude of species and phylum of plants specific to each area. The generally Victorian tone of the gardens radiates a sense of romance and natural splendor. University of Pennsylvania students conduct botanical experiments and studies that are also on display.
Located in the heart of Burlington County Park System, on the Rancocas Creek, the small time mill which turned into a major industrial plant was a great employment place for several workers. This mill offered the workers a great place for recreation, and eductaional opportunities. This park features a great activity area for hiking, trails, biking, fishing, canoeing, picnicking, etc. The park also offers a beautiful view of wildlife, freshwater streams of the creek, forests, meadows, and a beautiful natural scenic view.
