"Ice Beauty"

Formerly known as Mount McKinley, Denali was rechristened with its native name by President Obama in 2015. Denali is not only the highest peak in North America, but is also one of the world's top three most isolated and topographically prominent mountains, surpassed only by Mount Everest and the Aconcagua. With its summit at a height 20,310 feet (6,190 meters) above sea level, the ice-capped peaks of this lofty massif dominate the horizon for miles around, the crown jewel of the Denali National Park and Preserve. Five large glaciers form frozen rivers down its sides, forever clad in a sheath of snow that drapes the mountain in a cloak of the purest white; a blank canvas for the vibrant hues of the setting sun. A part of the Alaska Range, it is also one of the coldest places on earth, its frigid slopes a challenging climb that stymies even some of the most skilled mountaineers.
