Lodged along one of the country's most secluded highways, and burrowed inside Great Basin National Park, is a spellbinding troupe of cavernous creations. With roots that can be traced back by 600 million years, Lehman Caves portray a bewildering interplay of karst systems, replete with looming stalactites, layers of flowstone and ample sedimentary remains. The Wheeler Peak Bristlecone Pine Grove is one of the many bristlecone groves in the Great Basin National Park. It is one of the most easy-to-reach pine groves in the park, featuring a short, but steep trail, that meanders toward it. It is interesting to note that these unique and fascinating bristlecone pines grow on quartzite rock fragments, instead of limestone and dolomite. During the summer, the park offers informative walks around Bristlecone Pine Grove which are led by the rangers.

This well-equipped visitor center features interactive exhibits and several programs that take you through the history and culture of the area’s Native American tribes. Visitors can also take guided tours of the Great Basin National Park and learn about the region’s flora and fauna. In addition to hiking, visitors can even indulge in activities like fishing. This facility also has a gift store that sells items like souvenirs and books.

Also known as Baker Village, the Baker Archaeological Site in Nevada features ruins of the old Fremont Indian village. This interesting site was excavated and studied by Brigham Young University’s archaeology department. Located close to the Great Basin National Park, the Fremont people were known to have lived in pit houses. Visitors can explore the various historical markers here and learn about the area’s historic past. Baker Archaeological Site also offers facilities for refreshments like picnic tables and clean restrooms.
