The Schellsburg Historic District is a prominent district sited at Schellsburg in the Bedford County region. The district was built through in 1808 and has gained terrific historical significance. Majority of the structures in the district have adapted the Federal and Prairie School style of architecture. The district is registered on the National Register of Historic Places.

Flight 93, one of the four hijacked in September 11, 2001, was prevented by the passengers and crew from crashing on the United States Capitol. It crashed in Pennsylvania killing all on board. Located at the sight of the crash site, is a memorial honoring the lost lives. Initially open to only family members of the deceased, it was later opened to the public. It is featured on the National Register of Historic Places.
