With the opening of The Mermaid Museum in Berlin by Alyssa Maloof, a local photographer who converted her photo studio into an extraordinary mermaid site that just screams magic. The year 1858 marked the initial construction of the historic Fenwick Island Lighthouse. It is an eminent lighthouse located in Delaware across the border of Maryland. The conical shaped arrangement is predominantly a brick structure. Post its closure in 1978, there were protests to have it restored. Tourists can visit the small museum and gift shop although one is not permitted to climb the lighthouse. It towers high at 84 feet (26 meters) and possesses third order Fresnel lens. Covering an area of 218 acres (88 hectares), the historic lighthouse has also been added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Built in 1876, Indian River Life Saving Service Station in Rehoboth Beach is a unique one. This museum houses some really amazing maritime artifacts and memorabilia. It was an important station for the United States Lifesaving Service back in the 1800s when many ships were rescued along the coast. The museum is designed quite beautifully and maintained with care offering the tourists a piece of history and time that is worth looking at.
