Set near Carlsbad Cavern’s entrance, Bat Flight Amphitheater is an interesting place to visit in Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Rangers are known to host the Bat Flight Program here. Partake in this program and you can learn about the bats that rest in the Carlsbad Cavern. This show takes place between the months of May and October. If you visit during the months of August and September, you can catch baby bats getting ready to migrate with their older counterparts. A zoo and botanical garden, it is located on U.S. Route 285 at an elevation of 3,200 feet (980 meters) on the Ocotillo Hills. As you drive along the East Greene Street/U.S 180, eastwards from the center of Carlsbad, after a while, you will see the Eddy County Sheriff's Posse Arena. This popular events venue is abuzz with a variety of events, ranging from rodeo, fairs, and exhibitions, to concerts and other performances. Do call ahead to know about the schedule before you pay a visit.

Beneath Carlsbad Caverns National Park, the hidden Lechuguilla Cave was unknown until the year 1986. One of the longest walk-through caves in America, Lechuguilla Cave was discovered by a group of Colorado cavers. This 150-mile-long cave (242 kilometers) is rich in secondary mineral deposits like sulfur, gypsum, cave pearls, helictites, and some others. The cave continues to be under research and study of microbes in the cave that have medicinal benefits. This cave is worth the exploration for its wonderful sight and rare and pristine rock formations.

Located in the Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico, Big Room in Carlsbad Caverns is a must-visit. Spread across an area of 3,57,469 square feet (33,209.9 square meters), the Big Room features the 1.25-miles (2 kilometers) long Big Room Trail. Some parts of the trail can be accessed with a wheelchair. Hike along this trail and you can spot a large number of impressive sculptures and rock formations. Some of the formations that can be found here are Hall Of Giants, Sword of Damocles, Giant Dome and many others.
