Named after Andrew Molera, the man who made the California artichoke famous in the early 20th Century, this expansive state park stretches across 4,766 acres (1,929 hectares). Established in 1968, the Andrew Molera State Park was once the property of a renowned local family, the Cooper-Moleras. A prime feature of the park is the 19th-century Copper Cabin, one of the oldest lodges in Big Sur. Visitors can get acquainted with the local habitat of Big Sur at the Ventana Wildlife Society's Discovery Center, located within the park. Picturesque hiking trails, cascading waterfalls, fishing spots and camping facilities will make your visit to Andrew Molera State Park an enjoyable one.
