Münsterhof is the oldest town square in the old town of Zürich. The town square is beautiful, idyllic and surrounded by some of the finest medieval buildings in the city—the Fraumünster Church, the Zunfthaus zur Meisen and various famous restaurants and cafes. Every three years, a medieval-themed fun fair is organized here by the Fraumünster society. Münsterbrücke bridge is a hop, skip and jump from the square. Several guild houses surround the square, and so does the art museum Zunfthaus zur Meisen housing the Swiss National Museum’s porcelain exhibits. Being the biggest town square within the town walls, it forms the historical core of Zürich. The square is witness to many sculptures erected to commemorate the city’s eventful past, with some Reformation-related monuments being popular as well.

Rathausbrücke is a wide pedestrian bridge that straddles the River Limmat and is often renamed Gmüesbrugg. It is a small but popular public thoroughfare connecting Limmatquai, Weinplatz square and the historic Schipfe district. From here, you can see three churches, St. Peter's Church, Fraumunster and Grossmunster. The bridge has stunning views. The local produce market for flowers and vegetables, along with a few other stalls, is located where Zürich's tourist attraction was born and where Goethe and Mozart dropped anchor to utilize the charm of the city, which is also a gateway to the Alps. Historically, the market is held on Rathausbrücke, which is why Zurich residents sometimes call it the Vegetable Bridge (Gemüsebrücke). This flower market takes place only once a week. You can visit this market for colorful and fresh flowers for your special one, available only on Saturdays.

Rhode Island School of Design is the place to go if art is your calling. Named the best art college in the country by the US News and World Report, it offers numerous courses individually and jointly with Brown University. Register at both colleges simultaneously. The college seems to thrive on its laurels, for it has the lowest admission rates in the country. Boasting a long list of notable alumni, this institution attracts highly talented individuals from all over the world. The college has an amazing museum located on Benefit Street, RISD museum, which traces the history of art from antiquity to the present day through more than 85,000 works of art from all over the world. Exhibitions are held regularly outside the campus, particularly in the Woods–Gerry Gallery, where RISD students, faculty and even staff get to show their wares.
