The Children's Museum of Southeastern Connecticut is located close to Mystic in the nearby town of Niantic. This local favorite is a great place to take the kids on a lazy summer afternoon or during the weekend for an educational, yet fun-filled outing. The museum features several learning and play areas where children can learn a range of science-based activities through interactive displays. There is also a sand pit and a tree-house on site for younger kids.
Hygienic Art Galleries aim is to provide a platform for new as well as established and resident artists. The present location at Bank Street earlier housed Hygienic Restaurant, which shut in 1985. After a lot of community activism, the historic building that was scheduled to be demolished, was saved. Finally, the same opened in the year 2000 and stands as a testimony of successful community development projects and amazing venue for arts. An extended gallery of Hygienic Art called the Carriage House on 35 Golden Street, also showcases some interesting artwork.
The Sunbeam Fleet sails from Waterford where you can plan your next family or corporate outing on Long Island Sound. There are even public fishing day trips and overnight trips out on the water to the best spots for your big catch. The Garde Arts Center in New London is housed in what used to be a movie theater and traditional theater that comfortably seats 1475 guests. Owned and managed by the Denison family since it was first built, the Denison Homestead is a charming manor. Constructed in 1717, the Pequotsepos Manor as it is colloquially known, is a well-preserved historical landmark today and houses precious relics. One of the best tourist attractions in the state, the USS Nautilus is the world's first nuclear powered submarine and the sub is open for visitors to explore the nooks and crannies of a 1950s sub docked along the Thames River. Marvel at the re-creation of David Bushnell's Turtle, a one-man, torpedo-launching submarine invented during the Revolutionary War; the inventor was from the nearby town of Westbrook. The Submarine Force Museum houses over 30,000 pieces of nautical memorabilia and the museum is actively maintained by the Navy.

Wetmore Print Collection are galleries that feature American and Japanese art as well as European artists Rembrandt and Durer.
Norwich City Hall, is located in the city center. A huge building, it holds several public service departments. Located in the serene and lush area of Connecticut is this private art college, Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. Here, the 200-odd students are offered degrees in painting, sculpture and illustration. Formerly, a town hall, the Chester Meeting House dates back to 1795. This historical landmark was neglected and abandoned, owing to the efforts of the Chester Historical Society, it was completely refurbished and renovated. The town hall was also included in the National Register for Historic Sites and though no longer a town hall, it continues to serve the community and hosts meetings, cultural events and similar activities on a regular basis.
