Located south-east of Munich, Lake Tegernsee has been a magnet for tourists for many years. The Wendelstein Mountain graces the Bavarian landscape on the east, offering year round recreation for visitors. Especially in the winter, when there is ample snow, the Wendelstein ski area is open for business, inviting skiers and winter sports enthusiasts for a mighty challenge. The area is rather small compared to other popular ski regions, but the rugged and steep nature of the terrain makes up for it. A favorite among the more experienced skiers, amateurs can still take on this challenge, albeit with caution.
Naunspitze stands tall at 1633 meters (5357.6 feet) and belongs to the Kaisergebirge range of mountains in Tyrol of the Austrian section of the Northern Limestone Alps and is near the German border. The summit stands independently over the Inn Valley in Zahmer Kaiser, separated from the main ridge by a wind gap. From the Vorderkaiserfelden Hut, the peak is a 45 minutes long climb, and 20 from Peterskopfl and these are the easier routes. Along the west and north face, the climbs are as difficult as UIAA climbing grade III.
