If you like going on educational tours then this is not a bad idea to try. The Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Rail road tour gives you a chance to get to know how people traveled in the 1900s. During the small 40 minute tour, visitors can explore the beautiful landscape with scenic woods and lush green meadows. The engines used, are both original and replicas of the ones used way back in the 1900s. An informative tour with history being re-run, this one is surely to be loved by children as well as adults.

Located on the bank of the Saginaw River, the Saginaw River Rear Range Lighthouse was built in 1867 to replace the original one that had fallen into disrepair. Deactivated in 1960, and then abandoned by the Coast Guard, the lighthouse was left to vandals. Currently its under construction to turn it into a museum and can only be viewed by boat as the lighthouse sits on private property.

Whaley Historic House Museum is a beautiful house museum that is named after the Citizens Bank President Robert J. Whaley. This Victorian home was first built in the 1850's where in several families from the Flint city resided at this historic home much before Whaley. The museum consists of several exhibits, displays and antique objects that narrates about the rich history of Flint city. The site can be visited on the first and third Saturday every month from 10 AM to 1 PM and on Monday to Friday by prior appointment. Currently this house museum is closed for restoration purposes after it caught fire back in 2015. It is expected to have a grand opening in 2018.

St. Lorenz Lutheran Church was built in 1846 by the German community who traveled to Frankenmuth from the port of Bremen. Consecrated to St. Laurentius, a Christian martyr from the 3rd Century, the beautiful church is a symbol of Frankenmuth's history and its splendid Bavarian-style architecture. The Gothic church features antique murals, an old organ, and an altar. The colorful stained-glass windows depicting scenes from the Bible add to its vintage charm. The old church looks surreal during winters when it is surrounded by a blanket of snow. With its fascinating history, St. Lorenz Lutheran Church is an important religious site in Frankenmuth that offers a space for spiritual contemplation.

The Castle Museum is a splendid castle-like building built in Renaissance style. Constructed in 1898, to function as a post office, it was formerly called Castle Station or Saginaw Post Office. Now the headquarters of the Historical Society of Saginaw County, The Castle Museum features exhibits on the local culture and heritage.

Founded in 1998, Bay City Boat Lines - Middlegrounds Dock has public and private tours along the Saginaw River and Saginaw Bay. They also offer private charter. The Free History Tour Series by local historians on-board is a hit among locals and tourists alike. Hop aboard the Princess Wenonah or Islander for these narrated cruises to chronicle the past as you ply the river. Dinner cruises is part of their special events program and are held periodically.
