Located at the foothills of the Mount Colden and Avalanche Mountain, is the Avalanche Lake that spreads over 9 acres (3.6 hectares). The lake was named by the first president of American Association for the Advancement of Science, William Charles Redfield after being discovered by Judge John Richards and Major Reuben Sanford. A substantial rise in the level of the lake was registered as a result of the avalanche that took place in 1869 and 1942.

St Eustace Episcopal Church in Lake Placid is a haven for devotees and tourists alike. The stone-exposed building has a rustic charm to it and can be easily spotted while passing by. The inside of this church features extensive use of wood and has enough space to host the congregation gathering here every Sundays. Named after an investor in the McIntyre Iron Works, David S. Colden, for having been present when Lake Colden was discovered, Mount Colden is the 11th highest peak in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. What sets this peak apart is the Trap Dike running vertically through the center of the mountain. A haven for hikers and climbers, there are two well-maintained trails up the mountain, each more challenging than the last. A popular winter destination, make sure you gear up and for an adventurous day out.

Whiteface Veteran's Memorial Highway, also known as the New York State Route 431, stretches from NY86 and ascends to the Whiteface Mountain, with a total length of 7.96 miles (12.81 kilometers). Featured on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008, this highway possessing a scenic drive was built in 1935 as envisioned by Marcellus Leonard. Offering panoramic views from a height of 4867 feet (1483 meters), this is not your archetypal highway. As you reach the top, stop at The Toll House Area, Castle Cafe and Brookside Apparel for a complete touristy experience. A must visit when in Wilmington!

Camp Santanoni, also known as Santanoni Preserve, has a longstanding history. A former private estate, this sprawling landscape is now under the jurisdiction of the the state of New York. The camp had almost 45 buildings, all of which residential. The state has now turned this site into a National Historic Landmark. Camp Santanoni was considered to be one of the grandest among the 35 Adirondack camps.

John Brown is an iconic figure in American history, and his family home is now a popular and frequently visited site for locals and tourists alike.
