This 45-foot (13.71-meter) tall structure stands in New Ulm’s downtown area. It has 37 bell and 12 sculptures of characters belonging to this city in the past. Fort Ridgely is a historic United States Army outpost that was built in 1853 and served as a key police station that played a vital role in keeping the peace during the US-Dakota War of 1962. Named after three veteran officers, all of them sharing the same last name 'Ridgely', who were martyred in the American-Mexican War, this famous outpost is located near Fairfax, within the boundaries of the Fort Ridgely State Park. Maintained and run by the Nicollet County Historical Society and the Minnesota Historical Society, this output currently houses a museum.
