Bourbon & Branch is the brainchild of chef and owner Alex Carbonell. This Northern Liberties taverna-inspired restaurant has an altar from a closed church as their bar. It has an impressive list of 80 distinct whiskeys which are served in one ouncer pegs. Besides bourbons, there are 17 draft brews and signature cocktails as well. Though it's a bit cramped, patrons are willing to sacrifice some elbow room for the live music. Café Zesty prepares Mediterranean cuisine influenced by the Greek and Italian culinary traditions. All dishes can be prepared in either fashion, or simply charbroiled. Appetizers include portabello mushrooms stuffed with Gorgonzola cheese to Greek samplers of feta cheese, grape leaves, taramasalata and spinach pie. Signature entrees include Vitello al Limone, large and tender veal medallions sautéed in butter with splashes of fresh lemon and minced parsley, as well as Arni Kapama, a flattened piece of lamb shank spiced with a smattering of Greek herbs.
