Follow over 200 miles (321 kilometers) lush green trails winding through scenic wilderness and embark on exhilarating adventures at Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area. This state park unit beckons avid outdoor and motorsport enthusiasts over to explore the picturesque environs of the area through vehicles of their choice, be it four-wheelers, ATVs, or motorcycles. Visitors can also settle for picnics at designated spots that are surrounded crystal-clear creeks, verdant canyons, undulating knolls and hills, and oak-sprinkled woodlands.

Burrowed deep in the sweeping Salinas Valley, this national park is characterized by a rather enchanting set of rock formations called the Pinnacles which were created as a result of ancient volcanic activity. Spread over 26,606 acres (10,767 hectares), the park attracts rock climbers as well as avid nature enthusiasts, thanks to its rocky and craggy landscape. Uninhibited drapes of wilderness adorn this park which boasts some of the best, most dramatic vistas that central California has to offer. A safe haven for creatures such as California condors, prairie falcons and Townsend's big-eared bats, the park, along with being a geological and archaeological site, is also endowed with a wealth of many natural wonders. The park is traversed by winding trails, while its mysterious rock formations glint in hues of fine golden under the candor of the Californian sun. Interesting places to explore at the park apart from the Pinnacles are the Balconies and Bear Gulch rock caves.

Spanning 800 acres (323.7 hectares), the Upper Ranch of the Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area is home to a fenced motocross track. This section is more popular for four-wheeled vehicles who can explore the trails that traverse about 24 miles (38.6 kilometers), but it also hosts motorcycle events. Reservations are mandatory if you wish to explore the this section on your 4-wheelers. Vehicles are allowed to be operated in the Upper Ranch only between sunrise and sunset.

A part of Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area, Lower Ranch is a must-visit for the adventure enthusiasts. Spanning across 3,300 acres (1335.4 hectares), this ranch sees a number of motorcyclists and ATV aficionados all year long. The terrain is quite challenging and makes for an adrenaline-pumping experience as it's accentuated with hills. The place also has a mini-bike trail, sprawling picnic areas, a TT track, and a practice Motocross track. Visitors can even polish their Motocross skills at one of the practice tracks.

The most expansive one of all the ranches at Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area, Hudner Ranch covers an area of 1,500 acres (607 hectares). A perfect place for adventure lovers, this ranch is accentuated with a challenging terrain. It's perfect for off-road vehicles such as jeeps. Apart from the adventure, Hudner Ranch is a visual delight as it unveils scenic views across the trails.

Mudstone Ranch is quite different from all other ranches at Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area. Unlike the other ranches, motorized vehicles aren't allowed on its terrain. The ranch has meandering trails that are perfect for hikes, mountain biking, and they are also preferred by horseback riders. The recreation area has an ideal terrain for adventure enthusiasts, however it is also blessed with scenic natural beauty that leisure-seekers can soak in using the trails around the Mudstone Ranch.
