Using green landscapes as his medium, artist Isamu Noguchi designed a park like no other. The Moerenuma Park with its distinct angles, unique designs and impromptu installations won the prestigious Good Design Award in 2002. In terms of functionality, the park includes a tennis court, baseball and athletic fields, in addition to the the Glass Pyramid or Hidamari. The Hidamari includes a gallery dedicated to the works of Isamu Noguchi along with a museum shop and restaurant.

Gracing the viridescent, landscaped recesses of Sapporo Garden Park, Sapporo Beer Museum duly attests to the city's long-standing brewing heritage. One of the most popular tourist attractions in the city, the Sapporo Beer Museum occupies the site of the original brewery that was the first of its kind in Japan when it was established in 1876. Featured on the list of Hokkaidō Heritage Sites, this iconic beer museum still bears traces of the regal Meiji era. The museum has a restaurant, beer garden and various shopping facilities, and also offers guided tours, audio-visual displays and exhibits that elaborately illustrate the development of brewing in Sapporo since the early pioneering days.

This factory is one of the most successful and popular beer producers of the city. Asahi incorporates state-of-the-art techniques and quality ingredients in the making of their beers. The free tour gets visitors acquainted with the intricate beer making process, and also lets you sample three of their beers at the end of the tour at no additional cost. Ishiyama Green Space, which was once the largest stone quarry in Sapporo for about 100 years, is an amazing outdoor art gallery featuring some very interesting and unusual rock carvings. The park is divided into two sections: the north block, which offers a panoramic view from the hillside; and the south block featuring the sculptures. A unique aspect of the park is that the fences, benches, trashcans, lights and water fountains were created by the sculptors to blend in with the surroundings and the theme of stone art.

Designated as a natural park in 1968 to celebrate the centennial of Hokkaido's development, Nopporo Forest Park is one of Sapporo's most popular nature attractions. Covering more than 2,000 hectares, it is also a wildlife reserve. It contains 110 species of trees and more than 400 wild plant species, as well as some 200 mushroom species. There are also 140 species of wild birds and 1,300 different insect species. Children will delight in the popular Yezo squirrels, which can be seen almost everywhere in the park. There are no restaurant facilities, however, so bring along a lunch box.
