Cedar Creek Battlefield

Cedar Creek Battlefield, also known as the Battle of Belle Grove, is a place that brings to life the history of Shenandoah Valley. The Cedar Creek Battlefield marks the location of that infamous 1864 campaign which was a crushing defeat of the Confederates and their last attempt to invade the Union during the Civil War. The Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation made considerable efforts to erect a memorial on the location to commemorate the history of the battle and bought all the surrounding land including the visitor center. Every year the foundation sponsors a re-enactment of the battle which is a huge draw for Civil War enthusiasts.

Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve

The Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve is a spectacular green lung amid the city. Rich in flora and fauna, this park boasts a diverse topography that ranges from wetlands, marshlands, wildflowers to wooded thickets. The park can be traversed by designated trails that are dotted with beautiful ponds, allowing visitors to spot numerous bird species.

Cedar Creek & Belle Grove National Historical Park

Located in the heart of Middletown, the Cedar Creek & Belle Grove National Historical Park is a prime tourist destination, proudly displaying the American history of war and the cultural heritage of the city. Different parts of this 37000 acres of the park boundary are still privately owned and are managed and run by different collaborations. It also has the plantation house on its grounds. With so many attractions and landmarks to explore within the park, you'll never be bored!

Seven Bends State Park

Unfurling around the serpentine curve of the North Fork Shenandoah River, Seven Bends State Park makes for reinvigorating picnics with family and friends. Spread over a spectacular section of 1,066 acres (431 hectares), this area's unique landscape is a delight to study, with scenic trails beckoning avid hikers and nature lovers. Marker Miller Orchards Farm Market and Bakery

Marker Miller Orchards Farm Market and Bakery is a must visit when you're in Winchester. This beautiful orchard comprises 325 acres of apples and about 15 acres of peach plantations. Plums, pears, apricots and raspberries are seasonally grown and during certain seasons you can Pick-Your-Own fruit. Children will love the playground, the wagon rides, and more! The bakery at the farm is a delight for people with a sweet tooth. Events like the Century Farm Birthday Festival, Apple Festival, Peach Festival, Fall Festival, and Bakery Festival are also held here.

Luray-Hawksbill Greenway

A beautiful addition to Luray's many perfect parks, Luray-Hawksbill Greenway, is an ornithophile's paradise. This park has a flourishing natural environment teeming with wildlife, butterflies, and various exotic species of birds.
