Thousands of acres of protected woodland, Monsanto Forest Park offers the perfect escape from sprawling urban environments. Landscaped to include a variety of wild flora and fauna, this park was created in 1934. Besides hiking and bird watching, there is a lot you can do. The lookout point offers a splendid panoramic view of the ancient city, the Tagus River and the Atlantic. Leisure spots include the Ecological Park and Monsanto Municipal Camping Park. Concerts, exhibitions, fairs and other big events are a regular affair.
