Located on the campus of St. Petersburg College, Tarpon Springs, The Leepa Rattner Museum of Art is a remarkable attraction in the city. Previously a railroad depot that the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad built in 1909, the Tarpon Springs Depot now functions as a local museum operated by the Tarpon Springs Area Historical Society. While the museum's exhibits are largely centered around the railroad past of its heydays, it also comprises historic exhibits that describe the town's local heritage. This over 100-year-old depot is stationed within the Tarpon Springs Historic District.
Since 1984, the Brad Cooper Gallery has provided an ongoing array of unique and expressive works. At its Ybor gallery, artists from around the US and abroad exhibit their creative pieces. The gallery focuses on contemporary art by established artists as well as emerging artists. The gallery features paintings using several mediums including oil on linen, wood, and canvas, acrylic on paper, silver print, and mixed media. There are featured solo exhibits throughout the year. Mount Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church was established in 1894, and was one of the earliest places of worship for the African community in the city. Originally known as the Hope Henry A.M.E. Church or simply the A.M.E. Church, it took its present name after the church building was reconstructed in 1926, following a devastating storm. Located among crowded streets of Elfers, the Baker House or the Samuel Baker House is one of the historic structures that you will come across while in the city. The house was built in the year 1882, for the owner and his family, Samuel Baker himself. Today the house has been extensively restored and open to the public as a museum where visitors can come and view the lifestyle of people from the mid 20th Century.
Andrews Memorial Chapel is a former Presbyterian church. It was built in 1888 in a Carpenter Gothic style and features on the National Register of Historic Places. Administered by the Dunedin Historical Society, it is an ideal venue for wedding ceremonies, christenings and funerals, as well as meetings and concerts. It is also open for public visits on Sundays.
