Wake Forest University was originally established in 1834 in Wake Forest, NC. The university moved into the Reynolda Campus in 1956, which remains the university's main campus to this day. Bethabara Park is a historic park and was a Moravian settlement in 1753. Spread across 183 acres (74.06 hectares) of idyllic wooded landscape with wildlife, it is a National Historic Landmark and is included in the National Register of Historic Places. It is also known as the Bethabara Historic District and features archaeological ruins, an 18th-century church, Strangers' God's Acre (among the oldest graveyard in the nation), historical structures, trails, gardens and a visitor center. It is used as an open-air museum and hosts many festivals on weekends.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Old Davidson County Courthouse is a fitting abode for this local history museum. At the museum, varied exhibits chronicle the cultural and natural history of Davidson County while preserving the Greek Revival architecture of the historic courthouse. Built in 1858, the courthouse features a temple-form design, with an octagonal clock tower and fluted columns that give the structure an austere, regal and stately look befitting a house of law. Inside, the second floor courtroom has been carefully preserved and is a favorite amongst visitors. An ever-changing array of exhibits that draw from an extensive permanent collection ensure that there is always something new to discover at the Davidson County Historical Museum.

High Point University was established in 1924 and has a wide array of courses for the students. The university has a beautiful and well maintained campus and houses an arboretum.
