Guilford Courthouse National Military Park

Old Salem

World's Largest Chest of Drawers

High Point touts itself as the "Home Furnishings Capital of the World" and this chest of drawers was built to honor that title. Standing 38 feet (11.58 meters) tall, it is quite an impressive sight attracting thousands of visitors. Built in 1920, the chest of drawers even features a couple of dangling socks to pay tribute to the town's hosiery industry. As if that wasn't enough, High Point actually has two giant chests of drawers. The other is built onto the side of a building in the Furniture land South complex and stands about 80 feet (24 meters) tall.

David Caldwell Historic Park

Adjacent to the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden, this historic park is named after the Presbyterian minister and a self-trained physician. On this particular site back in 1767. he opened up an academy for young men. All told, Caldwell once owned these 550 acres where his home and academy used to stand in Greensboro, and where the park now sits. This history of this land is synonymous with Greensboro.

Horne Creek Living Historical Farm

Visitors that come into Horne Creek learn about what it was like to live and work on a farm in the Piedmont area of North Carolina circa the early 1900s. The house on the farm itself was once the Hauser family farm. In addition to the Hauser home, a tobacco curing barn, and apple orchard is also on the farm. While on the farm, visitors can participate in old fashioned ice cream socials and an annual corn shucking frolic. There is also a nature trail, visitor's center, and picnic area. Admission is free, however donations are encouraged and appreciated.

Deep River Friends Meeting House and Cemetery

Deep River Friends Meeting House and Cemetery is one of the foremost cemeteries across the Guilford County. Though the earliest marking dates back to 1803, this cemetery is deemed to be in existence much before that. The Deep River Friends Memorial Association preserves and maintains this historical burying ground.
