Collection envoûtante de couleurs vices et de dômes à motifs, la cathédrale Basile-le-Bienheureux s’élève à l’extrémité Sud de la place Rouge, et constitue l’un des monuments les plus emblématiques de Russie. Initialement bâtie entre 1555 et 1561 pour commémorer la victoire d’Ivan IV contre les Tatars à Kazan, cette cathédrale était composée de pierres blanches avec des dômes dorés, et les mosaïques de couleurs et de motifs ne furent ajoutées qu’au XVIIe siècle. On en sait peu sur les architectes de cet édifice majestueux et, pendant un temps, la légende raconte que qu’Ivan IV leur fit crever les yeux pour les empêcher de reproduire leur œuvre spectaculaire. Abritant initialement neuf chapelles, une dixième fut ajoutée quelques années plus tard, où se trouve la tombe de Saint-Basile. Bien qu’officiellement nommée la cathédrale de l’Intercession, le surnom plus populaire de ce joyau historique vient de ce fait. Part of the Rezydent Shopping Centre, Krzywy Domek, also known as Crooked House, is a uniquely designed building. Inspired from illustrations by Jan Marcin Szancer and Per Dahlberg, the building is designed by the famed Szotynscy & Zaleski. Counted as one of the 50 strangest buildings in the world, the fascinating building attracts curious tourists and locals alike.
