The American tradition of quilting goes back to the earliest Colonial days. What started as a necessity, fashioning blankets out of any scraps of cloth available, became a folk art that reflects the times and family heritage of every place and period where it flourishes. Finkel specializes in these ornate time capsules, with quilts, samplers and related items.
Tucked into the southeastern corner of the Reading Terminal Market, Iovine's carries a small but select group of organic greens, herbs, roots, radishes, endive, and other leafy delights. Iovine Brothers Produce is also one of the only places in the area to get fresh organic eggs. There is a good deal of macrobiotic produce on hand as well. Fruit is the only item that is not pesticide and chemical free. Located under the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the market is filled with other fresh produce sellers, delis, bakeries, and prepared foods.
