The majestic Rhine River reserves a special place of pride in Europe, nourishing lives and unfurling spectacular landscapes on its way. One such feature of this river are the Rhine Falls, Europe's largest falls, nestled between the municipalities of Neuhausen am Rheinfall and Laufen-Uhwiesen. Created during the last Ice Age, these cascading falls on the Upper Rhine originated between 14,000 to 17,000 years ago. They plummet a breathtaking 23 meters (75 feet) in total. Rushing and tumbling over a precipice in a raw display of natural beauty, the Rheinfall is best viewed from Rheinfallfelsen, a rock formation which acts as a viewpoint. A picturesque pedestrian trail winds around the falls, offering glimpses of its glory. This is a popular tourist destination along with nearby Wörth Castle and Schloss Laufen.

Cutting its way across the solid rock formation between lower Haslital and the upper valley, the Aar Gorge is a true depiction of the power of flowing water. Formed as a result of the erosion in the limestone rocks by the Aare River, the Gorge can be accessed by the public and it is quite an experience to witness the immensely beautiful work of nature. It is over 200 meters (656.16 feet) deep and allows tourists to walk along a platform built inside. It is an impressive wonder and has been surprising visitors for the last 100 years.
