Connecticut Ballet Center is a great place to learn the art of ballet dancing. Dance classes are available for novices who with to learn as well as proffessionals who want to go in for higher level classes. One can come in for a trial class and then decide whether to take up the course. Courses are available for both adults and children. Zumba classes, hip-hop, Bollywood dancing and tai chi are also taught here. The Connecticut Ballet company also organizes and participates in a number of cultural programs. Three of their dance studios can also be rented on an hourly basis.
Leitner Family Observatory and Planetarium are located on the Farnam Garden, in the campus of Yale University. The facility is dedicated to education, research and public outreach. The Observatory and Planetarium are open to the public once a week, on Tuesday nights for two Planetarium shows that are held at 07:00 and 08:00 p.m. (April through October) and 06:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (November through March). Later, if the weather permits, the telescopes at the observatory will be set up for public viewing of the sky. Visitors can enjoy viewing planets, nebula and star clusters whatever interesting appears in the sky. The astronomy center has two telescopes, and a universe- simulation theater for visitors to enjoy and experience the outer space.
Located in a house that was built in 1785 by a Danbury-based military captain, John Rider, the structure currently serves as a museum, offering tours around the entire property. The house was in a state of ruins until it was taken over by the Historical Society of Danbury, restoring it part for part. Visitors are shown each and every room within the structure, offering insight into the lifestyle of the Rider family.
