"Tribute to Poe"
The original manuscript of Edgar Allan Poe's famous poem, "The Raven," along with other memorabilia of the life of this unusual writer, is on display in this museum. Poe grew up in Richmond and frequently visited the city throughout his life. He was last seen in Richmond, VA, before being discovered half-dead in Baltimore, MD, USA. He died shortly thereafter. The Poe Museum is housed in Richmond's oldest stone building. There is an audio guided tour, so keep your ears perked up. This attraction is a small but must-visit one. The gift shop has some thought-provoking souvenirs, and you can take pictures of yourself in the garden, in the library and most of all with a nice standup coffin.
