Ridgway

Founded by shipping merchants Jacob Ridgway and James Gillis in the 19th Century, Ridgway is a borough tucked away near the lush environs of Allegheny National Forest. The historic downtown of Ridgway is home to quaint, rustic streets flanked by old lumber houses and mansions, which can be explored along a scenic hiking trail. The beautiful town attracts many enthusiastic visitors during its iconic Chainsaw Carving Rendezvous each February. History buffs can visit the Elk County Historical Society, a small museum with interesting treasures. Thanks to its proximity to the forest, Ridgway is popular for activities such as hiking, ATV trails, fishing, and camping.
