For years the artwork and figurines have provided comfort, love and inspiration to millions. Samuel had always wanted to build a chapel, dedicated to God where he could express his gratitude and be grateful for the blessings he has received for his artwork through his life and it was in Carthage he found his calling. Built in 1989 and on the lines of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, the Precious Moments sculptures are seen in and around the chapel and the beautiful courtyard. Murals, stained glass and other beautiful artworks belonging to Samuel are also seen around the chapel. The Chapel ground has a welcoming Visitor Center, which is said to have the world’s largest Precious Moment Shoppe.The Precious Moment Chapel and Gift Shoppe is a must visit when in Carthage.
The brainchild of artist Lowell Davis, Red Oak II is a somewhat modern iteration of Red Oaks, a ghost town where Davis hailed from. After the first Red Oaks became obscure, Davis remade this new town from the ground up with parts from various ghost towns around the country. This fake old time village with a diner, homesteads and town hall has become a tourist attraction thanks to the artist's dedication.

The historic mansion, built in 1868 in a classic revival style of architecture, sets out an example of a beautiful Victorian-era mansion. The Phelps house was restored by the Carthage Historic Preservation and opened its doors to the public. Visitors can tour the vintage mansion decorated with period furniture and interiors, giving out an old-world look. This wonderful house is also given for private events.

The St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and Rectory is a historic church located in Joplin, Missouri. This Late Gothic Revival and Prairie School style structure was built in 1906 and features limestone exteriors with elaborately carved details, stained glass lancet style windows and a central rose window. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
