Discover Munich with me, a real "Münchner Kindl”. On this self guided audio tour through the city centre, we’ll see highlights from over eight centuries of history. I’ll share some insights and introduce you to important characters from Munich’s past. I’ll also point out a few spots where you can enjoy local beer and other Bavarian delicacies. We’ll begin our walk in the iconic Marienplatz. From there, we’ll explore the streets. There’s delicious food at the Viktualienmarkt along the way, as well as the grandeur of St Peter’s Church and other impressive sights. You will find out how salt and wine helped the city emerge and why a child monk is its symbol. You will visit the world’s most famous beer hall to eyewitness the local beer drinking culture and discover the story of the Oktoberfest. You will learn how an ancient dance connected the 16th-century plague epidemic and the modern-times Coronavirus pandemic and how the bow tied on the apron of a dirndl can encourage to or discourage from flirting with a woman. All that while enjoying Munich’s sights and taking in its atmosphere.

The Residenz palace was the home of the Bavarian rulers from 1508 until the First World War.
