Charm meets faith at the St Michael and All Angels Church. This parish church is located in the Houghton-le-Spring region of Tyne and Wear. This site of English heritage can be dated back to the 12th century. Constructed in the Gothic style of architecture, the active house of faith is much frequented arena. Built with stone, the church has a beautiful green churchyard that houses many memorials and tombs.

The Belsay Castle is found in the town of Belsay in Northumberland and dates back from the 14th Century. Owned by the Middleton family in the 1370s, the structure then consisted of the pele tower that stands three storeys high, flanked by turrets and battlements. The tower was extended into a manor by Thomas Middleton in 1614. The mansion served the Middletons until they left it for Belsay Hall in the 19th Century. With its interiors removed, the castle served as a folly which could be a venue for garden parties or other forms of entertainment. It is now maintained by English Heritage and is open to visitors.

Founded in 1793 this is the largest and oldest library of its kind outside London. The library is home to over 150,000 books related to history, fiction, non-fiction and other fields of interest. They also have a musical library that has a vast collection of musical CDs and LPs in various genres. They also host a wide range of events on a regular basis which includes book launches, concerts, lectures, readings and workshops. These events are open to members and non-members and in most cases the entry is free. On first Saturday and third Wednesday of each month they offer free guided tours. By paying an annual membership fee one can borrow books and enjoy reading literature of their interest.

Hardwick Park is England’s official country park open throughout the year for public visits. Visitors can access the park free of charge with minimal parking charges. It is a great sightseeing spot where you can admire the natural beauty of the lake, the forest area and its wildlife. Reach out to the park’s visitor center to utilize its facilities such as the café, the exhibition space, the gift shop and restrooms.

Royal castle of the prince of Durham was mainly built as a hunting lodge. It is also known as the Bishop’s Palace and managed by the Auckland Castle Trust since 2012. The trust is a charitable foundation responsible for restoration of the castle grounds and setting up permanent historical exhibitions. The castle is surrounded by a vast park that includes a Deer House open for public visits.
