Set along Ridley Creek, the 2606-acres (1055 hectares) Ridley Creek State Park is covered with lush green woodlands and pastures. This state park is home to several historic buildings that were built and owned by the Jeffords and Pratt families. Some of these structures were formerly used as residences and farmsteads.

The John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum is the largest standing freshwater tidal marsh in Pennsylvania. The mission of the refuge is to preserve the marsh, promote environmental education, and provide visitors with an excellent opportunity to observe wildlife in its natural habitat. The Heinz refuge offers nature programs, environmental education workshops, field trip consultations, and a resource library. All workshops, field trips and related services are offered free of charge. The Refuge is an excellent resource for birdwatchers, hikers and nature lovers.
The Palestra is the basketball court housed on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. It opened in 1927 and has hosted more games, visiting teams, and NCAA tournaments than any other college facility in the country. It was the site of the first NCAA championship in 1939. It has a capacity of 8,722 and is a short walk from all the attractions of University City.
